Very fast November 24, 2009 WyoGuy (way up north) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
After my wife bumped a burner knob on our gas range and fell asleep while the house filled with gas, I ordered this alarm overnight. I have it plugged in near the stove. It alarms in seconds if a burner is on but not lit and has never given a false alarm.
Great product February 24, 2009 T. Yanagawa (Fremont, CA, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently installed gas tankless water heater and gas dryer in my garage and my contractor suggest to install leak detector. This product does not has any false alarm. Keep silent.... I intentionally do leak gas slightly (everything was turn off before we do this, I would not recommend to everyone), then it detects! Keep in mind when we buy such kind of detector product, sometime it's too sensitive cause false alarm or no detection.
Fantastic! October 8, 2009 Alan This unit beats doing a paper test and then forgetting to do it. You just glance at it whenever and it tells you what level you're at. We did a disposable test before we bought our home and it was about 12ppm. I needed to do a long term test so I got the electronic test. Works great! We have 13ppm in the middle of summer with windows open in our basement. We are getting mitigation put in later this month. Then I can watch it and see if it is working.
No problems May 1, 2010 M. Lang (Bethlehem, PA United States) I purchased this detector to put in my basement near a gas furnace. It replaces a much older natural gas detector and carbon monoxide detector. This particular unit plugs directly into a wall outlet, so one needs to have a wall outlet in the proper mounting location already. That was not a problem for me. So far, the unit has worked flawlessly, with no false alarms. I like the fact that it flashed a red led regularly to indicate the unit is working
There are a few comments in other reviews that the carbon monoxide detector is set too high for safety. The instructions that come with the unit say it is set for 200 ppm, and cite a US safety standard. (I tried to find the instructions online before purchase, but could not.) It appears that this trigger is beginning to approach levels where exposure over a period of time might cause problems. I find this very reasonable for my application since it reduces false alarms but sounds when there is really a problem. I might want a more sensitive carbon monoxide detector or one with a numerical readout for use near a bedroom upstairs, for example.
This unit neatly replaces two detectors and seems to provide just the kind of protection from a serious problem that I desire around the furnace in my basement.
Performs well- no false alarms.... June 21, 2009 Sebring (Boston, MA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had the "other brand"- it gave false alarms. I purchased this Safety Siren unit and have had no false alarms ever for the months that I've owned it. I can't attest to its performance when there are elevated gas levels and I hope I don't need to find out. I recommend this model Safety Siren.
